On Thursday 24 April, we gathered in Edinburgh for a powerful day of discussion, learning, and first-hand experience, exploring how low-carbon heat can be delivered at scale and made accessible for communities across the UK.

A Look Behind the Scenes
Before the symposium, we hosted a guided visit to the MEL heat network, including:
Shawfair Energy Centre: a flagship example of low-carbon energy generation, where smart controls and efficient systems are at work
Craighall Village: a new community being supplied with sustainable heat through this innovative network
Led by SAV Systems and supported by Vattenfall Heat UK, the visit offered a hands-on look at how collaboration, technology, and local delivery come together to future-proof heat for real homes and residents.
Big Ideas and Bold Conversations
In the afternoon, we welcomed guests to the CIBSE Heat Network Symposium at Manor Place.
There were expert talks on heat network design, new rules and regulations, and how to make things better for residents.
We also had a lively panel discussion with industry leaders and a chance to meet others working in the sector over food and drinks.
